Samsung Smart TV – Collecting your conversations?

Is Samsung eavesdropping on your living room conversations?  On the privacy policy page for Samsung’s Smart TVs it states, “Please be aware that if your spoken words include personal or other sensitive information, that information will be among the data captured and transmitted to a third party through your use of Voice Recognition.”  This means that any conversations you make around your TV can be recorded and sent to any company of Samsung’s choosing.  For anyone concerned with this invasion of privacy you can turn your ordinary television into a less invasive smart TV with solutions like Google Chromecast, Android TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV.  Take all this into account when choosing whether a smart TV is truly the smart choice.

  1. We have to be careful about this with every technology. Unfortunately I feel we are in an era were privacy is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. Many technologies are trying to capture data about their consumers and sell it. This with lots of technologies not just smart TV’s. Many apps also access your personal data. It feels like privacy is no longer an option for the average consumer.
